Adventures in the Kitchen

Categories:PreTrail | Trail Food

Well I think adventure is an understatement but hey the outcome was positive. Last Friday I was talking to a foodie friend Chris from BlogWellDone who happens to be a very good friend and will be my base camp commander while I am on the trail.  We were chatting about food and would it be possible to make 100% everything I take food wise with me. Sure I could go and buy everything but that takes part of the fun out of the adventure.  The first item I decided to try to make was trail bars. These would be something akin to Cliff Bars or Power Bars. I did not add any kind of protein mixes or vitamin supplements. As this was a first try I did not take any kind of measurements so for now I will just give you the ingredients.  Surprisingly they came out pretty darn good for a first try.

Peanut butter Trail Bars v. 1.0
Wet Ingredients
Creamy Peanut Butter
Chunky Peanut Butter
Sweetened condensed milk

Dry Ingredients
Dry Roasted Peanuts
Honey Nut Cheerios
Shelled Pistachios
Puffed Rice Cereal

I have lots more ideas and as I try them out I will be sharing them with you along the way. If you have any questions or suggestions let me know.
