Digging holes and planting things

Categories:PreTrail

With the weather being so nice lately we have been working in the yard lately attempting to grow grass, plant flowers, start a smallish garden.  So far we have not killed any plants and grass is growing. (knock on wood).  Lots of lawn mowing and various other yard work is being done and we are slowly cleaning up the place.  overall its looking great for a yard that was abandoned for the better part of  2 years or more.

One thing I have found out is that if I dig more than a few inches down anywhere in the yard I end up hitting roots.  They are everywhere and many of them are very large. Large enough that it requires power tools to remove them.  I have yet to find out of they all come from just one tree or they are from multiple trees. My guess is that they are from several of the trees around the yard.

As the rain begins to pour down it looks like the yard will be happy but activities are going to be limited to being inside tonight. Not a bad thing considering I have a lot of work to do inside. I can not complain about the awesome weather we have been having and we really do need the rain.

Happy Trails
