Food Review – Journey Bar not your ordinary nutrition bar

Journey Bars are not your ordinary energy bar. I say this because they are flavors that most people would never think to be in a bar form let alone in an nutrition bar. To be honest I was very skeptical about liking them or not. I also let them sit on my counter for quite awhile before trying them. I finally gave in and I am glad that I did. I was surprisingly impressed with the taste and quality of the bars. One thing you do have to get used to is the consistency of the bars. Each one is a little different and also some of them are harder than the others.

Coconut curry was the first bar that I tried. I am not a huge curry fan but I found this bar to be very tasty.  The consistency was a little strange but it can be gotten used to. I have found that many of the bars I had to try multiple times before coming to a conclusion.

The rosemary bar was just not for me. I tried it and then gave it a second try and just did not like it. I honestly do not know what turned me off about this bar. If you like rosemary in your foods then I would suggest you give it a try.

The hickory barbecue bar was the strangest thing I think I have ever eaten. Now do not take that as a sign that I did not like it.  It was like eating a pulled pork or even a chopped brisket sandwich without the meat. Again the texture was a little odd.

The pizza marinara bar had a nice flavor. If you close your eyes while eating it you still feel like you are eating an nutrition bar. This one is a must try.

Your little slice of Italian bread to go. The parmesan romano bar had a great taste, but was the hardest of the group. I felt like I was eating a Italian dinner roll instead of a nutrition bar. Another must try in the line of great bars.

Overall I found them to be nice and flavorful. I did feel that they were a little hard to eat and would not be something I could have eaten a whole bar at one go.  I had also eaten not to long before trying them out so I was not starving.  I am sure once the hiker hunger sets in they will be gobbled up as fast as I can get them open.

I would like to thank Journey bar for sending me the bars at their expense to try out and I look forward to having more of these on my hike.

Worth a shot. They also might hike longer with some fancy food in their pockets.
