More from around the house

Categories:Around The House

A while back I wrote a post about using dryer lent to help start a fire.  I have three more nifty little items that you might have never thought to use to help you start a fire in an emergency. I do not confirm nor deny these items work however I have “heard they do work” .  Really what I am saying is if you burn yourself or your house down I am not responsible.  So lets get to things that burn.

1. Fritos Corn Chips. Yep that is right. A hand full of good ole Fritos corn chips will help you start a fire. All you have to do is put them in a pile light them and there you have it.

2. Nosporin ( or generic) . Dab a little bit on a piece of wood or paper and put a flame to it. You can even use a striker or even a magnifying glass to set it off.

3. lip balm  and cotton ball or tampon.  You coat the cotton ball or tampon with the lip balm leaving a small section uncovered to allow the spark to catch the fibers on fire. The wax in the lip balm then turns item it is covering into a small candle and will allow the flame to burn for several minuets starting the fire.

Do you have any other items that you use or know of that can help save a life if the need arises?
